MARY RUTH SCHINDLER

MARY RUTH SCHINDLER

Mary Ruth Schindler was born on April 27, 1927 in Sealy, Texas, the daughter of the late Arnold and Minnie Lee Liermann Sens.

After the death of her parents, she made her home with her late aunt and uncle, Marcella and Fritz Strauss, in Cat Spring, Texas and later with her late grandparents, J. A. and Annie Nelson Liermann, in Bernardo, Texas.

On May 27, 1945, she married Lester E. Schindler of Eagle Lake, Texas while he was in the Air Force during World War II. After his discharge from the service, they lived in Sealy, Texas for a short time. They moved to Bernardo, Texas in November 1946 to make their home.

Mary Ruth was active in the Bernardo P.T.A., Bernardo Domino Club, Mentz Home Demonstration Club, 4-H Club, Bernardo V.F.D. Auxiliary, St. Roch Catholic Church, Altar Society and Catholic Daughters. She was also a member of the Mentz-Bernardo quilters and helped embroider many quilts that were auctioned or raffled off at the Bernardo Fire Department and St. Roch Catholic Church barbecues.

She enjoyed playing dominos, always kept her yard mowed, her car washed and full of gas. She loved her Dairy Queen stops, having a cold beer now and then, and loved smiling and showing off her dimples. Mary Ruth was never late going anywhere; she loved to go. But, most of all, she loved her family.

Mary Ruth passed away on August 14, 2024 at The Oaks Assisted Living Community, Columbus, Texas where she temporarily resided since September 2023.
