LARRY HENNEKE

Larry Henneke, 69, of Schulenburg, Texas, passed away on July 27, 2024, in Schulenburg.

 

He was born on October 31, 1954, to Oswald Henneke and Laura (Schneider) Henneke in Sealy, Texas. On December 3, 1995, he married Kathy Shimek. Larry worked as a rancher for many years. He was also a truck driver for Tornado Trucking. He was a member of St. Roch Catholic Church in Mentz. Larry enjoyed working with his cattle and the time spent in the hayfield with his son Dustin.

He was very proud to be helping raise his granddaughter, Cheyenne. Above all Larry cherished the day he met his wife Kathy of 30 years. His love for her was extraordinarily deep and he was devoted to her until his last moments. He always said they “fit” together from their very first dance together. They followed the sport of truck pulling with OTTPA for several years with their truck, “Foolish Pleasure”.

Larry is survived by his wife Kathy Shimek Henneke; son Dustin Henneke and partner Shannon Braden- Kusey; stepdaughter Danielle Masson and husband Luis; brothers Jerry Henneke and wife Carol and Robert Henneke and wife Connie; grandchildren Cheyenne Henneke, Kassie Bell, and Aaron Moffett; great-grandchild Camden Moffett, and his adored fur babies Nakita and Abbey. He was preceded in death by his parents Oswald and Laura Henneke; in-laws Jerry and Gladys Shimek; nephew Jerry “Butch” Henneke, Jr.; and several close fur babies, Ambrosia, Barkley, and Babina.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus, Texas. A parish prayer service and rosary will follow at 7:00 PM. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024, at 10:00 AM at St. Roch Catholic Church in Mentz, Texas. Fr. James Dvorak will be officiating. Burial will take place in St. Roch Catholic Cemetery in Mentz, Texas.

Pallbearers are Dustin Henneke, Koldin Henneke, Dwayne Henneke, Heath Weishuhn, Gene Guentert, and Bennie “Butch” Machicek. Honorary pallbearers are Gordon Goebel, Mike Wostarek, and Cody Neuendorff.
