Sherry was born June 12, 1957, to James and Willie Mae Hill. The fourth born of six siblings.

Sherry attended Wharton

County Junior College and obtained a LVN degree in August of 1983. After graduating from nursing school, Sherry accepted a job at Autumn Hills Nursing Home in Richmond, Texas. Over the years, she also worked at other nursing care facilities.

Due to health issues, in 1989 she decided to retire from nursing. She believed it was time to stop working because she could not be the best nurse she aspired to be.

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, James and Willie Mae Hill.

Sherry is survived by her daughter, Rosalyn Braggs and husband Shawn; son, Kevin Bailey; sisters, Carol McTear, Janat Fuesley and husband Ronnel, Merri Hill and Sandy Perry; brother, Calvin Hill; nephews, Carlin “Avery” McTear, Dane McTear, Sr., Avery “AJ” M. McTear, Quentin Pope, Kolbe McTear, Dane McTear, Jr., Dominic McTear, Damon McTear, and Karter McTear ; nieces, Deanna McTear, Andrea Grounds, Kiara McTear, and NaLa McTear, ; and aunt, Willie Ruth Fields.

Sherry was incredibly kind, generous and compassionate. She always went out of her way to help others. Sherry will be dearly missed.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024, beginning at 2:00 pm, at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus, Texas.

Honorary pallbearers are Shawn Braggs, Julius Carter, Justin Grandmont and Carlin “Avery” McTear.
