BENJAMIN “DAVID” SHILLER

Benjamin “David” Shiller passed away in Columbus, Texas, on July 13, 2024 at the age of 89. He was born to Bennie David and Louise (Pargac) Shiller in Victoria, Texas, on June 8, 1935. On June 23, 1962, he married Theresa E. Kazmir.

David attended St. Joseph High School in Victoria graduating in 1953. He joined the Army in 1957 after attending Victoria Junior College and studying industrial engineering. Upon his return from Bitburg Air Base in Germany, he continued working in the construction business with his father.

After marrying the love of his life and moving to Houston, he began his career with Texas Instruments as an electronic technician, retiring in 1990 after 25 years. David built a home in Georgetown, Texas, and started his own construction business that he operated until 2007. Re-retiring in Columbus, he again used his handyman and contracting experience to build his final home.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie and Louise Shiller; sister, Barbara DeVaney and her husband John; brother, George Shiller; and brother-inlaw, Earl Erikson.

David is survived by his wife of 62 years, Theresa Shiller of Columbus, Texas; daughter, Carol Daugherty of Cedar Park, Texas; sons, Brian Shiller and wife Kali of Sugar Land, Texas and Kevin Shiller of Columbus, Texas; sister, Carolyn Erikson of Lake Jackson, Texas; grandchildren, Shawn Daugherty and partner Ashley Nabers, Kayla Daugherty and Ella Shiller; great-grandchildren, Liam Daugherty, Daemon Nabers and Hailey Nabers.

Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at St.

Anthony Catholic Church with Fr. James Dvorak officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., also at the church. A parish rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow later.
