JACKIE M. HAWORTH
While in Kansas at the age of 18, he joined the US Navy during WWII and served on the USS Boston from 1944-1946. After serving in the Navy he married Esther Harris in Wellington, Kansas on June 2, 1946. Employed as an Engineer with City Service Oil Company, he and Esther lived many places including Kansas, Mississippi, and Colorado before making their permanent home in Texas after his retirement in 1987.
“Jack” loved to play a round of golf, and he also enjoyed fishing. When his eyesight became worse, his friends would often come pick him up for a ride around the golf course.
He is preceded in death by his parents; stepmother Ollie Haworth; his wife Esther Haworth; and one sister.
“Jack” is survived by his daughter Gae Anne Haworth Noska and husband Doyle of Columbus, TX; son Lee Haworth of Ellinger, TX; grandchildren Theresa (Haworth) James and husband Jeffery of Ellinger, TX, John Haworth and Katie Kindred of La Grange, TX, Dustin Noska and wife Hailey of Rock Island, TX, Lesly (Haworth) Barnes and husband Wayne of Huntsville, TX, Andy Haworth of Montgomery, TX and their mother Vicki Haworth of Montgomery, TX. 6 great-grandchildren also survive, along with special friend Betty Rheman of Waller, TX.
Pallbearers were Dustin Noska, Dane Noska, John Haworth, Westen Haworth, Andy Haworth, and Don Stavinoha.
Visitation was Monday, June 10, 2024 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus, Texas. Graveside service followed at 2 p.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Columbus, Texas.
