ANDREW ‘JOE’ ECKERMANN

Andrew Joe “Andy” Eckermann, 79, of Frelsburg, Texas, passed away on June 4, 2024 in Frelsburg, Texas.

He was born on Dec. 1, 1944 to Elmer Eckermann and Christina (Kubicek) Eckermann in Bellville, Texas. On June 28, 1975 he married Patricia “Patsy” Shupak in Frelsburg.

Andrew is survived by his wife of 48 years, Patricia Eckermann; daughters Melissa Eckermann Finke and Emily Eckermann Gross; grandchildren Brooke Finke, Brian Finke, and Shelby Gross; great-granddaughter Sage Finke; special pup Sugar and all the grand pups; brothers-in-law Johnnie Shupak, Jr. and James Shupak and wife Shirley; sister-in-law Joyce Shupak Schmidt and husband Jackie Sr.; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Christina Eckermann; father-in-law Johnnie Shupak, Sr.; mother- in- law Emi ly Schmidt Shupak; sister Ernestine Eckermann Evanicky; sister-in-law Joyce Wostarek Shupak; brothers- in-law Robert Shupak, Jerry “Shorty” Shupak, and Donald Shupak.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus, Texas. A parish rosary followed at 7 p.m.

Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at 10 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Frelsburg. Fr. Bob Knippenberg officiated.

Burial took place in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Frelsburg, Texas.

Pallbearers were Brian Finke, Raylon Fumbanks, Jackie Schmidt, Jr., Chris Shupak, Mark Kubicek, Leroy Schuette, Jason Schmidt and David Shupak. Honorary pallbearers were Brooke Finke, Shelby Gross, and Sage Finke.

Memorials may be given to Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church Mass Fund, Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church Restoration Fund, 1031 Church Lane, New Ulm, TX 78950, or Memorial Hermann – Texas Medical Center, 6411 Fannin St., Houston, TX 77030.
