They were blessed with two sons, Kevin and Kenton. She was active as a Cub Scout Den Mother, Band Club Member, a member of the Young Homemakers & Home Demonstrations organization, Little League Auxiliary, Member of Hermann Sons Lodge #10, Colorado County Sportsman’s Association, Texas German Society of Colorado County, and Unser Deutscher Saenger (German Choir). She worked many years in various places as an administrative assistant the last 30 +years at First United Methodist Church in Columbus. She and Douglas enjoyed leading many weddings and anniversary grand marches. She made a special effort to “design” each march to accommodate participants and the hall.
Virginia was preceded in death by parents Walter and Nola Glaeser, Sr, and sister-in-law Ruth Glaeser.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years Douglas W. Lilie, sons, and daughters-in-law; Kevin and Tracy Lilie; Kenton and Beverly Lilie. Six Grandchildren: Matthew (Sarah) Lilie; Nicole (Jon) Kramer; Craig (Alyse) Lilie; Kara (Blake) Chunda; Colton (Emily) Lilie and Weston Lilie. 8 great-grandchildren: Addison, Austin, and AJ Lilie; Emalyn, Annabelle, Rosemary, and Julianne Lilie; Landon Chunda; and brother Walter E. Glaeser, Jr. along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at Henneke Funeral Home on Monday, May 13, 2024 at 2 p.m. Burial was in Zoar Lutheran Cemetery, Mentz, Texas.
