BERNICE EVANICKY WARSCHAK
She was born on March 6, 1932 to Rudolph and Mary Noska Evanicky in Frelsburg. She grew up in Frelsburg and attended Rocky Hill, Brushy and Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic School.
On Nov. 21, 1950, she married her best friend, Delmo Warschak. Through the years, they worked together raising cattle and making hay. She worked for a short time at New Ulm Creamery and then babysat children of the community for approximately thirty years. Later, her interests turned to quilting.
She made quilts for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many friends. She was a member of the Country Quilters; a group of ladies who have enjoyed hand crafting numerous quilts for the Church and Fire Department fundraisers. She also enjoyed gardening and canning vegetables along with cooking and baking for her family and always made sure that there was plenty to eat and drink. You never left her house hungry! She was a life-long member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and a member of St. Ann’s Altar Society and Hermann’s Sons.
Bernice is survived by her son, Ronald Warschak and wife, Judy of Brenham, TX; her daughters, Annette Neuendorff and husband, Kerry of Frelsburg, TX and Jeanette Machinsky and husband, Daniel of Frelsburg, TX; grandchildren, Koy Warschak and wife, Melanie of Brenham, TX, Janna Brown and husband, Taylor of Brownwood, TX, Jason Neuendorff and wife, Niki of Caldwell, TX, Lindsay May and husband, Clint of Montgomery, TX, Tiffany Orsak and fiance, Ryan Johnston of Sealy, TX, Dustin Machinsky and wife, Jamie of Columbus, TX and Traci Houston and husband, Scott of Mequon, WI; great-grandchildren, Wes and Maggie Warschak, McLane and McCall Brown, Kylie Jo, Corbin and Cooper Neuendorff, Tate May, Wyatt, Lanie and Kynlee Orsak, Quinn Machinsky, Lily and Thomas Houston. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Delmo Warschak; her parents, Rudolph and Mary Noska Evanicky; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Henry and Helen Schuette Warschak; sister, Mary Schertz; sisters and brothers-in-law, Elsie Kubecka and husband, Ludwig, Lydia Belota and husband, Clement; brothers, Eddie Evanicky and Clarence Evanicky; brother- in-law and sister-in-law, Clarence and Viola Warschak; nephews, Lawrence Kubecka and Erwin Belota.
Parish Prayer Service and Rosary will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus, Texas. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at 10 a.m. at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Frelsburg, Texas with Rev. Robert E. (Bob) Knippenberg officiating. A Parish Rosary will be held on Thursday at 9:30 a.m.
Burial will take place in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in Frelsburg, Texas. Pallbearers are Koy Warschak, Taylor Brown, Jason Neuendorff, Clint May, Dustin Machinsky, Scott Houston, and Ryan Johnston.
Honorary pallbearers are Melanie Warschak, Janna Brown, Niki Neuendorff, Lindsay May, Tiffany Orsak, Jamie Machinsky and Traci Houston.
