JEROME “J.D.” WIED

Jerome “J.D.” Wied of Garwood died April 6, 2024 at the age of 83. He was born May 15, 1940 in El Campo to Raymond and Josephine Kosler Wied. He worked for Garwood Irrigation Company for many years and for LCRA before he retired. He was a United States Army Veteran having served in Korea. J. D. was a life-long member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a member of Knights of Columbus #3371.

He is survived by his sisters Theresa Pieprzyca and Rose Ann Mitchell; brothers Norbert Wied, Edgar Wied and wife Dorothy, Johnny Wied and wife Lillie, Mark Wied and wife Lorrie; sister-in-law Tammy Wied; 13 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Tony Wied, and brothers in law Emil Pieprzyca and Roy Mitchell.

Visitation will begin 12:30 pm Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with a parish rosary being recited at 1:30 pm. The Funeral Mass will follow at 2 pm with Rev. Peter Yeboah- Amanfo officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers are Harvey Pieprzyca, Daryl Pieprzyca, Ray Wied, Brad Wied, Brent Wied, Ladd Wied, and Bruce Wied.

Donations in memory of J. D. Wied may be made to the Garwood Volunteer Fire Department.
