CAROLYN DELOIS FRAZIER POENITZSC

Carolyn DeLois Frazier Poenitzsch, 81, of Shaws Bend, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Feb. 12, 2024. She was born on June 5, 1942 to Waco and Estella (Kveton) Frazier. Carolyn was a graduate of Columbus High School and furthered her education in administration.

Carolyn married the love of her life, Larry Poenitzsch, on March 14, 1964 and was married for 58 years. To this union was born one son, John, who was the center of her life, along with wife, Diane. And Carolyn could never say “no” to granddaughters, Tori and Katelyn.

Carolyn had an extensive career in the healthcare industry, working as a receptionist for several area doctors, an assistant administrator at Sweetbriar Nursing Home and administrator of Parkview Manor Nursing Home in Weimar, Texas. But she was most passionate about her job helping Larry with his ranching business, taking care of all the bookkeeping and supporting every endeavor he attempted.

Carolyn especially looked forward to the camping trips with the camping group. She also enjoyed playing dominos with family and friends, solitaire, work word search puzzles, pampering her cat Katie and having her hair done every Friday by Kim Koehl.

Carolyn is survived by her son, John Poenitzsch and wife, Diane; grandchildren Tori Henneke and husband Koldin and Katelyn Hoskins and husband, Cole; great grandchildren Wyatt James Henneke, Josie Ruby Henneke and Kinzley Renee Hoskins; sister, Shirley Hauerland, sisters-in-law, Barbara Johnson, Diana Young and husband Doug and Bonnie Pfannstiel and husband Curt, brothers-in-law, Russell Poenitzsch and wife Dolores “Cookie” and Daniel Poenitzsch and wife Peggy; and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Waco and Estella (Kveton) Frazier; husband, Larry Poenitzsch, brothers-in law Kenneth Poenitzsch, Tony Hauerland, and Cooper Johnson, niece Raena LaFont and great niece Ashley Blackwell.

Visitation was held on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2024 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus, Texas. A prayer service and rosary followed at 7 p.m.

Funeral service was held on Friday, Feb. 16, 2024 at 10 a.m. at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus, Texas with Deacon John Glueck officiating. Visitation on Friday was from 8 to 10 a.m.

Burial was in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Columbus, Texas.

Pallbearers were Scott Hauerland, Ray Poenitzsch, Josh Poenitzsch, Everett Poenitzsch, Caleb Poenitzsch, Eric Albers and Nathan Young.

Honorary pallbearers were Tammy Hauerland Valdez, Rachel Benavides, Michelle Acosta, JoLyn Poenitzsch, Jackie Drozd, Teri Poenitzsch and Kayla Young.
