Ronnie Mac Rogers, 77, of Columbus, Texas, died Sept. 20, 2023, in Katy, Texas. He was born Aug. 13, 1946, to Maxel Rogers and Virginia Rogers in Rusk, Texas. On Jan. 29, 1967, he married Susan Rodgers.

Ronnie ran his own business, Rogers’ Electric, and worked as a master electrician for 43 years before retiring in 2008. In 1988, he served as chairman for the Columbus Electrical Board.

He was a member of the Columbus City Council from May 1992 until May 2004. He served as the vice president of the Columbus Chamber of Commerce from 1992 to 1993. He was voted “Volunteer of the Year” in 1994 by the Chamber. In 1996, he was a director of the Tourism Board for the city of Columbus. He was also a member of the Colorado County Appraisal District board from 2009 to 2021 and served as chairman from January of 2014 until December 2020. He served as the Chamber Santa Claus 1993 through 1995, was president of the Columbus Golf Association and the Magnolia Homes Tour.

He was a member of the Caledonia Lodge No. 68, recipient of the Golden Trowel Award and 50-year pen. He was elected as worshipful master of the lodge six times. He was also a past member of the Evening Lions Club.

Ronnie enjoyed playing golf, the Dallas Cowboys and debating politics. On April 14, 1997, he was commissioned by then-Gov. George W. Bush to serve on the Houston-Galveston Regional Review Committee.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roy Frank Rogers; brother-in-law, Daniel Rodgers; sister-in-law, Peggy Brune Rodgers; and mother-in-law, Bernice Luedecke Rodgers.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Susan Rogers of Columbus; daughter, Tracy Kennedy of Columbus; niece, Christy Tiemann and husband Chad; great-niece, Cassidy Tiemann; sister-in-law, Pam Cernoch and husband Larry; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Donald and Carol Rodgers; and nephews-in-law, Nathan Rodgers and wife Rachel, and Jacob and Justin Rodgers.

A visitation and funeral service took place Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2023, at Henneke Funeral Home, 1515 Montezuma St. in Columbus, with the Rev. John Hunsicker officiating.

Burial will take place at a later date at Zoar Lutheran Cemetery in Mentz, Texas.
