VLASTA FALDYN

Vlasta Lucille Bubela Faldyn, 87, died Sept. 17, 2023. She was born to Frank Bubela and Lucille Krenek Bubela on June 20, 1936, in Garwood, Texas.

She married Jerry Faldyn on April 27, 1957, at St. Mary’s Cathol ic Church in Nada, Texas.

Vlasta was a 1955 graduate of El Campo High School. She graduated from Wharton County Junior College Vocational Nursing Program. Vlasta was a dedicated nurse for many years. She was honored as Employee of the Year in Columbus in 1996. She was a parishioner of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Stephen Korenek of El Campo; son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Susan of Austin; son Stanley of Columbus; son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Yvonne of Boerne; and daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Jeff Fox of Spring Branch; 12 grandchildren, Jacob Faldyn of Midland, Jeremie Faldyn of Corpus Christi, Aaron Faldyn and wife Reghan of Victoria, Mackenzie Faldyn and fiance Matthew Delgado of Katy, Kailey Fox of Spring Branch, Madilyn Faldyn of Boerne, Kyra Fox of Spring Branch, Kerigan Faldyn of Columbus, Meredith Faldyn of Boerne, JJ Trachta of Boerne, Marissa and husband Christian Caruso of San Antonio, and Alexandra and husband Danny Garza, who are missionaries in Chile; six great-grandchildren, Jaden Faldyn, Raelynn Faldyn, Roslyn Garza, Andres Garza, Fischer Faldyn and Macenna Faldyn; sister, Doris Priesmeyer of Taiton; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Janet Bubela of Hungerford; sister-inlaw, Patsy Bubela of El Campo; brother-in-law, Frank Miculka of East Bernard; sister-in-law, Lillian Zapalac of Ellinger; brother- in- law, Edward Faldyn and wife Helen of Columbus; sister- in-law, Virginia Faldyn of New Ulm; sisterin- law, Joyce Bubela of Columbus; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Frank, Clarence, Allen and sister Janet Bubela Miculka. A visitation is 5-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, 2023, at Henneke Funeral Home, 1515 Montezuma St., Columbus, followed by a parish prayer service and rosary at 7 p.m. A funeral Mass officiated by the Rev. James Dvorak will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 1602 Bowie St. in Columbus. Visitation at the church is 9-10 a. m.

Burial follows in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Columbus.

Pallbearers include her nieces Sandy DeWigans, Chandra Healey, Melissa Howell, Lisa Kutach, Sharon Parnell, Delores Perry, Sharon Roberts and Jeanette Schell.

Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren, great- grandchi ldren, Carol Alschlager and her wonderful caregivers from Schulenburg Regency Nursing Center.
