A More Beautiful Community
April was a very busy month for Columbus Garden Club. Among the activities was a trip to Victoria to see the Master Gardener Gardens – Victoria Educational Gardens. One of the club members, Jennie Pritchett is in the process of becoming a Master Gardener and is taking classes for her credentials in Victoria. Members also enjoyed lunch at the Pumphouse Restaurant and visited the Artismal Nursery. Gardeners can never have enough plants.
Members of the club were busy all month gathering plants for their annual plant sale and making all kinds of baked goods for the bake sale at Brookshire Bros. in Columbus. And all of their hard work paid off with a very successful sale. Part of the sale was to benefit the club’s scholarship fund.
Eddie Pavliska won the garden cart full of gardening goodies, Brenda Wyman won a beautiful garden stake, Sandy Barrett won a beautiful begonia, Brenda Boehm won a beautiful planter with many plants, Nancy Galloway won a wall planter, and Alan Jamison won a plant stand. All of the funds received from these donated items go to the scholarship fund. The club has been providing scholarships for students in Columbus since 2001.
