The Weimar Encore Lions Club has been awarded the prestigious 20222023 Robert F. Koennecke Award.

This award, in honor of Past District Governor Robert F. Koennecke, is awarded to the outstanding Lions Club of District 2-S5, according to a release.

The Robert Koennecke Award honors the Lions Club that best exemplifies the motto, “We Serve.”

The Weimar Encore Lions said they have received the award twice in three years. The award is based on: -Continuous distribution of funds to various charities both local, state, and international.

-Consistently active in their zone and district with positive attendance in meetings and conventions.

-Great support for the Texas Lions Camp.

-Great respect and service in their community using various functions such as donations to local library, First Responder Appreciations throughout the year, scholarships to graduating seniors, and more.

-Well-rounded Lions Club.

-Always exhibits that “can do” attitude.

Selection of the honored club begins with the appointment of a secret, three-member committee who receives nominations, reports of membership, community activities, and recommendations from the leadership team as to which club best exemplifies the “We Serve” motto in their respective communities.

According to a release, Koennecke gave much of his time to civic organizations such as the Lions Club, among others. He also served as the director of the Texas Lions Club Camp for Crippled Children.
