SCHULENBURG – The Schulenburg/ Weimar Area Parents as Teachers held their annual Art in the Park event on Saturday, May 6.
This Fiesta-themed event was held at Wolters Park in conjunction with Turtle Wing Foundation’s Jack Hooper Day at the Park. Families in the PAT program were able to bring their children to participate in several arts and crafts activities. The crafts available were cactus handprints, tissue paper flowers, mini pinatas, sombrero headbands, clay crafting, mini maracas, amate “paper” art, hopscotch and chalk, and seed planting. The activities allowed the kids to utilize and build their fine motor skills, one of PAT’s main focuses.
There were 18 families in attendance with 25 adults and 32 children participating. PAT wants to thank Jenna Matura, Harly Zapalac, Kim Miori, Madison Harris, Nettie Cernosek, Phylilis Venghaus, Brent Hoskins, Jay Roberts, JoNell Lamascus, Jeanette Koenig and all the PAT parent educators for helping set up this event and guide the children through the crafts.
