COLUMBUS – This week is Teacher Appreciation Week (May 8-12) and Columbus Elementary School is celebrating its teachers not just for the work they do with students, but for their commitment to improving their teaching skills.
The school said all K–3 teachers and principals are required to complete Reading Academies by 2023. According to a release, Reading Academies is an 11-month professional development program that continues learning and builds on knowledge of the Science Teaching Reading (STR) in a school context.

“We are very proud of their dedication to continue learning the scientific ways children learn, to improve teaching in the classroom,” a spokesperson for CES school said. “Thank you again for your hard work and diligence. We are CES proud!”
