COLUMBUS – Five Columbus High School seniors each received $1,000 scholarships presented by the local Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1127 for future education at colleges or technical schools.
The scholarship recipients attended the May 2 VVA 1127 meeting to receive their checks.
Amy Venghaus, CHS scholarship coordinator, introduced the students. Brett Wilson will attend Texas State Technical College in Rosenberg to become a lineman, Nathan Beane plans to attend Texas A&M University with the goal of going to law school, Zakari Nelson plans to attend Texas State Technical College in Waco to learn how to fly and become a commercial pilot, Jordyn Templeton plans to attend Centenary College in Louisiana and play golf while earning a degree in art design, and Grace Jackson plans to attend Blinn College for one year before transferring to the University of Texas at San Antonio to pursue a degree in architectural design.
