COLUMBUS – The Colorado County Courthouse lawn was filled Thursday afternoon with community members gathering for the annual National Day of Prayer on Thursday.
The theme for this year’s National Day of Prayer was “pray fervently in righteousness and avail much,” in reference to James 5:16b NKJV.
Pastor Dan Poré prayed for families, Pastor Alan Kethan prayed for churches, Pastor Jose Reynosas prayed for businesses, Dr. Mazie Leftwich prayed for the military, Pastor Sunshine Reyes prayed for the government, Pastor Joel Usher prayed for education, and Pastor Victor Morrison prayed for the arts, media, and entertainment industries.
Musical selections were led by Tracy Baker.
The National Day of Prayer, designated by the United States Congress, became public law in 1952 and has been observed annually on the first Thursday of May throughout the United States since.
