Challenges

Being here at Texas ChalleNGe Academy has made me realize how proud I am of myself and of all the other cadets who have taken on this huge challenge with me. Sadly, time here is no longer our friend, and our days here will end on June 17th.

Being here at Texas ChalleNGe Academy has made me realize how proud I am of myself and of all the other cadets who have taken on this huge challenge with me. Sadly, time here is no longer our friend, and our days here will end on June 17th.

As the cycle winds down, I have realized how much this challenge has changed me. No matter what obstacles I faced here, I have overcome them. I know that when I go home, I will still have obstacles to face and challenges to overcome, but with my family’ s support, I will get through them.

Being at TCA has taught me to look at things differently and find ways to face challenges in a healthy and productive way. I have learned to not let other people’s opinions change my mood and have learned to be strong.

After gaining four complete high school credits, I am eligible to take my GED test. That will help me to achieve the academic goals that are necessary for me to study cosmetology and become an eyelash tech. I also hope to obtain my realtor license. Before coming here, I didn’t have a clear vision of life after high school, but being here has helped me to see a clearer path.

There are many people, from team leaders to teachers, who have helped me during my time here at TCA. One I would particularly like to thank is my case manager, Mrs. Ramirez. When I have complained to her and told her that I wanted to go home, she would reply, “Suck it up, buttercup. You can do this!”

I also know that I am very lucky to have a family back at home that has always supported me and will continue to support me. They have let me know that giving up is not an option. I can’t wait to walk across the stage on June 17th and cross the finish line. I am looking forward to where the next challenge takes me.
