This year’s golf season proved to be a strong year in Colorado County as both Weimar and Columbus had a number of golfers qualify for the state championship meet with impressive performances in the regional meet. With the state meet quickly approaching in May, UIL has released the general times each competitor and team will be taking their turn on the course.

For Weimar, they will be represented at the state meet by Taylor Smith for the girls and the whole team for the boys as they claimed the regional championship in their last outing. Both teams will be competing on the Lions Municipal Golf Course in Austin later this month. Smith begins her outing on Monday, May 15 with the first tee off of the day at 8 am. Her fellow Weimar state-qualifiers on the boys’ side will be returning to the same golf course one week later on Monday, May 22. Dillon Stech, Camden Morrison, Brady Henke, Weston Pavlik and Regional Champion Hudson Ervin will compete starting with Stech at ten minutes after 9 am. Morrison, Henke, Pavlik and Ervin will tee-off in 10-minute intervals following Stech’s opener with Ervin starting his day at 9:50 am.

The Columbus girls will be taking on the state meet after taking second place at Regionals. Austin’s Jimmy Clay Golf Course will be the stage that Columbus competes on as the girls are set to compete on Monday, May 15. The Lady Cards will have some of the earliest times of the day as they will start at ten minutes after 8 am with each golfer starting their course ten minutes after their teammate. Summer Adams gets things started for Columbus followed by Katharine Burnett, Kambire Toppel, Jordyn Templeton and Thea Schobel who starts her course ten minutes before 9 am. The boys will operate on the same schedule the following Monday. Columbus takes on Jimmy Clay after claiming the Regional Championship as a team, led by individual champion Kaldon Roensch. The Cards start their day at 9:10 am with Trace Braden, followed by Cullen Loessin, then Camdon Pitchford, Adam Schobel and finally Roensch who takes the course just before 10 am.
