Gus R. Polasek, 74, passed away on Jan. 15, 2023, in Columbus, Texas. He was born to Gus John and Agnes Martha (Dirba) Polasek on Oct.
20, 1948, in La Grange, Texas. He married Theresa Ann Kossa on Nov. 22, 1969.
Gus worked at La Grange Highway Department, Foster Wheeler, Brown & Root and Jacobs Engineering over the years as a Civil Designer in the Oil & Gas Industry.
He retired from Jacobs Engineering in 2010. In his free time, he enjoyed sharing stories, barbecuing, driving his tractor, and watching comedies.
His hobbies included woodworking, designing houses and rebuilding small engines. His true passion was spending time with his family and will be most remembered for having a beautiful soul, always helping others before himself.
Gus was preceded in death by his parents, Gus and Agnes Polasek; brothers Johnnie Polasek, infant brothers Jerome and Lawrence Polasek, Robert Polasek, Bennie Polasek; sisters Georgia Krenek and Lillian Gaertner.
Gus is survived by his wife of 53 years, Theresa Polasek of Columbus, Texas; daughter, Laura Lynn Cowser and husband Michael of Sugar Land, Texas; son, Greg Alan Polasek and wife Andrea of Fulshear, Texas; grandchildren, Billy, Brody, Luke, Mackenzie, and Lane; sisters, Margie Stancik and husband Ray, Diane Grafe and husband Tony; brothers, Henry Polasek and wife Mary, Frankie Polasek and wife Debbie, and Daniel Polasek.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2023, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus with a parish prayer service and rosary to begin at 7 p.m. led by Deacon John Glueck.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Jan.
19, 2023, at 10 a.m. at St.
Anthony Catholic Church with Fr. Augustine N. Asante officiating. Visitation at church will be from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Kevin Hillmer, Zak Nelson, Kirk Polasek, Brody Cowser, Billy Cowser, Luke Polasek and Lane Polasek. Honorary pallbearer is Mackenzie Polasek.
