FAYETTEVILLE – Arts for Rural Texas’ annual ArtWalk event is returning on May 6-7.
The event, which showcases the work of artists and artisans from across the state of Texas, will be a celebration of creativity and community.
ArtWalk, which is now in its 19th year, has become a beloved tradition in Fayetteville, drawing visitors from all over the state. This year, the event will feature a diverse array of artwork, including paintings, sculpture, photography, pottery, jewelry, and more from artists like Janice McCubbin, Tracey Wegenhoft, Cherri Fryer and more. Those interested in purchasing artwork will have the opportunity to do so with nearly 60 artists selling their work directly to visitors.
Live music is another hallmark of ArtWalk 2023. Annie Rost and Fayetteville Mayor Mike Stroup will kick off the weekend in the Fayetteville Bandstand Gazebo on Saturday at 10 a.m. Bill Pekar takes the stage at 12:30 with Jack “The Sax” Carr rounding out the afternoon at 3 p.m. Visitors and locals are invited to stay on the square for a FREE concert featuring “Houston’s First Lady of Blues,” Trudy Lynn and the Steve Krase Band at 6 p.m. in the big tent. with Jeff Robertson at 10 a.m. and Amanda Peevler Adams from Industry, Texas at 12:30 p.m.
ArtWalk has always been a whole community event that offers something for everyone, according to a release. Families are encouraged to stop by the children’s booth that will host face painting, spin art, rock painting and other crafts and activities for kids of all ages.
R&R Shaved Ice will be on the square to cool visitors down. Taqueria Abundancia and G’s 183 Pit Stop will have their food trucks parked for lunch, dinner and snacks throughout the weekend in addition to Fayetteville’s staple restaurants: Joe’s Place, Orsak’s Café, and The Wine Bar at the Grand Fayette hotel.
The event will take place over two days, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 6 (with live music continuing until 9 p.m.) and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 7. Admission to ArtWalk is free. All are welcome to attend.
