COLUMBUS – The Colorado County Mayors held a Mayoral Meeting around noon at Nancy’s Steak House on Tuesday, April 25.

At the end of their meeting, the mayors signed a proclamation recognizing May as Mental Health Awareness Month.

Members from the Wellness Council of Greater Colorado Valley and Colorado County Judge Ty Prause were in attendance to support the proclamation.

“Having the support of Mayors Gobert, Koller and Kelly along with County Judge Prause is so vitally important!” Wellness Council President Dr. Mazie Leftwich said. “It makes a huge statement to all citizens the need for everyone to remove the stigma that surrounds mental illness, and to seek treatment for these disorders that afflict such a large portion of the population.”

The goal of the Wellness Council is to educate and make people aware of the different mental health crises that affect many throughout the country.
