FEB 17

At 11:10 a.m., Randy Mican made contact with a corporate security officer for a private company based out of New Jersey. The security officer believes there is a security risk to the company CEO due to some recent social media activity. The company reached out to Colorado County due to one of the parties residing here. Case is cleared by report.

At 4:36 p.m., Randy Mican arrived at the Sheriff’s Office to report threatening text messages from a subject trying to conduct a scam. The suspect(s) deposited 93K in a Fidelity account and requested the complainant to withdraw the funds and monetary loss by the complainant. Case cleared by report.

FEB 18

At 8:10 a.m., Randy Mican was called to CR 208 near Weimar in reference to a citizen finding power tools in the ditch. I arrived and observed the tools laying in the ditch near a plastic tub. Mican later located the owner and they were returned. Case cleared by report.

At 1:35 p.m., Robert Villanueva was dispatched to CR 106 near CR 134 in reference to a vehicle fire. The Rock Island Voluteer Fire Department arrived on scene and extinguished the fire. Case cleared; Information only.

FEB 19

At 11:17 a.m., Jeffery Argo was dispatched to CR 107 in Columbus in reference to a mailbox that had been ran over. There are no suspect vehicles at this time. Case cleared by report.

At 10:33 a.m., Randy Mican was dispatched to Deer Hollow Road in reference to property damage. On arrival, it was determined that someone had bent a gate and cut a high fence. I observed that a vehicle had traveled through a neighboring pasture asjacent to Deer Hollow. The vehicle got stuck at a high fence, and another vehicle drove through gates at Deer Hollow and pulled the stuck vehicle out. The unknown sujects cut the high fence to pull the vehicle out of the mud. This incident is connected to the incident deputies responded to on February 15, 2023. Case is pending further investigation.

At 1:10 p.m., Randy Mican was called to a vehicle fire on IH-10 WB at mile marker 704. The fire was extinguished before I arrived by the driver with a fire extinguisher. The only damage was to several wires under the hood. The truck was off the roadway on the north service road. The driver had his own wrecker coming to tow the vehicle. Case cleared by report.

At 5:51 p.m., Frankie Cantu was dispatched to Sunset Plaza Road in Columbus in reference to a domestic issue involving a juvenile and parent. The case was cleared by report.

FEB 20

At 6:14 p.m., Zane Blaha was dispatched to Hwy 71 EB at the Colorado County/Fayette County line in reference to a reckless driver. After, further investigation, jesse James Whatley, 28 of Brazoria, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, 3rd or more. Case cleared by arrest.

FEB 21

At 2:10 a.m., Zane Blaha was dispatched to the 4500 block of Hwy 71 in reference to a disturbance. After further ivestigation, Amanda Christine Smith, 39 of Richmond, was arrested for Assault Causes Bodily Injury Family Violence. Case cleared.

FEB 24

At 1:05 p.m., Santa Nino was dispatched to Cavender Country in Alleyton in reference to a Theft. Case pending further investigation.

FEB 25

Santa Nino was dispatched to Old Altair Road in Alleyton in reference to property damage. The incident was later determined to a Burglary. The case will remain inactive until additional information can be developed.

At 1:35 p.m., Mary Mayfield responded to a report of an animal attack tht occurred in the 1000 block of Laura Lane in Columbus. Case is pending follow up.

At 7:29 p.m., Zana Blaha was dispatched to FM 3013 in reference to an accidental discharge. The victim was transported by EMS to Memorial Hermann Katy for treatment. Case was later cleared by report.

At 8:38 p.m., Tyler Pavlicek conducted a traffic stop on FM 109 near Business Hwy 71. After further investigation, Norman White, 37 of Caldwell, for an active felony warranty out of Bell County for Failure to Appear for Possession of a Controlled Substance. Case cleared by adult arrest.

FEB 26

At 7:55 a.m., Mary Mayfield responded to FM 102 in Alleyton in reference to damaged property. The case was later cleared by report.

At 11:58 a.m., Mary Mayfield responded to the 100 block of Arthur Street in Garwood in reference to a Burglary. After further investigation, one Juvenile was detained and charged with Burglary of a Building. Case cleared.

FEB 27

At 8:54 a.m., Randy Mican was dispatched to the Garwood Lumber Company in reference to a Burglary. IT was determined that several knives and a shotgun were stolen. During the investigation, two Juvenile suspects were identified. The stolen property was recovered. The two juveniles were later arrested for Burglary of a Building. Case cleared.

At 5:29 p.m., Benjamen Melendez conducted a traffic stop on IH-10 WB near mile marker 695 for a speeding violation. After further investigation, the driver was issued a citation for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Case cleared.

At 8:29 p.m., Banjamen Melendez responded to the 1000 block of Huebel Lane in reference to a structure fire. The investigation showed the fire was accidental due to an outdoor grill causing a boat and covered area to burn. Case cleared.

FEB 28

At 10:31 a.m., Randy Mican was dispatched to a public service in reference to fence damage at Hwy 71 eastbound and Business Hwy 71. It was discovered that unknown suspects drove off of Hwy 71 on the eastbound side and traveled through the ditch. They drove to the property line and cut the fence, removed a post from the ground, and pulling the fence to the side. The subject(s) traveled to the rear of the property, taking a trailer with a welding machine and a Kubota side by side. The subjectz(s) than exited the field at the same location they entered. The stolen trailer and weldler are entered into the state and national database as stolen. Case is pending.

At 1:26 p.m., Robert Villanueva was dispatched to a Deadly Conduct incident on Lakewood Drive in Sheridan. Case is pending further investigation.

At 3:08 p.m., Randy Mican recieved a call from a subject in reference to a missing elderly person. The individual was last observed earlier that morning at a residence on Burnham Ferry Road. The missing perosn was later retured home. Case cleared by report.

MAR 1

At 1:19 p.m., Mary Mayfield responded to the Energy Transfer located in the 1700 block of Hwy 71 in Columbus in reference to a Burglary. The suspect(s) were developed. Case is pending futher action.

At 7:03 p.m., Zana Blaha was dispatched to Greak Road in Sheridan in reference to a civil matter. Case cleared by report.

MAR 2

At 10:48 a.m., Santa Nino was dispatched to a public service in reference to an animal attack that occurred at a residence on IH-10 in Weimar. Case is pending further investigation.

At 4:37 p.m., Santa Nino was dispatched to Struss Lane in Columbus in reference to a dog bite. The victim was bitten by her own dog. The Oak Grove Veterinary Clinic was able to show proof to current vaccinations. Case cleared by report.
