Weimar VFW Auxiliary Post 5875 elects officers for 2023-2024

WEIMAR – The Weimar Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post 5875 met April 11 to elect new officers for 2023-2024.

WEIMAR — The Weimar Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post 5875 met April 11 to elect new officers for 2023-2024.

The following slate of officers was elected by acclamation for 20232024: President: Charlene Muras; Senior Vice: Dolores Lauck; Junior Vice: Sara Bansal; Treasurer: Margie Janecka; Chaplain: Jeanette Hoelscher; Conductress: Norma White; Guard: Kathy Hudec; Trustee No. 1: Dolores Lauck; Trustee No. 2: Jeanette Koenig; Trustee No. 3: Pam Marshall.

The following delegates to district, state and national conventions were elected by acclamation: President: Charlene Muras; Delegate No. 1: Dolores Lauck; Delegate No. 2: Sara Bansal.

The following were appointed to serve: Secretary: Marty Heinrich; Patriotic Instructor: Jeanette Koenig; Historian: Kathy Hudec; Color Bearer: Sara Bansal; Banner Bearer: Jeanette Koenig; Flag Bearer: Marty Heinrich; Musician: Sara Bansal; Reporter: Dolores Lauck.

The group also discussed their community initiatives.

Charlene Muras reported that the Auxiliary will do a Buddy Poppy Drive in Weimar and at the drive-through dinner on Memorial Day weekend.

Jeanette Koenig reported that the winners in the school kid art/ singing contests have been forwarded to State for further competition. Charlene Muras reported that program participation has been completed and will send in the report.

Jeanette Hoelscher sent one birthday card, came to the Parkview Men’s Coffee, sent in the end-of year report and visited an auxiliary member.

Norma White reported that the next Men’s Coffee at Parkview is on April 21. There will be a Bake Sale on April 22. Members are asked to provide baked goods or make a donation. Volunteers were assigned locations at MG and Kaspers.

Charlene Muras encouraged members to vote in local elections. Dolores Lauck reported she is sending coupons overseas.

For the Good of the Order, Jeanette Koenig reminded members to fly the U.S. Flag on VE Day May 9.

The next meeting will be 6 p.m. May 9 at the VFW Hall kitchen.
