The varsity track and field team for Weimar can boast several athletes who qualified to compete in the regional competition after notching some top finishes and quality performances in the district meet. Weimar qualified in a few separate events, but they have many athletes who will be present at the Kingsville-hosted regional meet from April 28 to April 29. Some of these athletes who qualified will be reaching Regionals for the second season in a row.
The Wildcats had a pair of athletes take qualifying placements from the field events in this meet, specifically in the pole vault competition. Dalton Turlington for the boys and Katharina Chaloupka for the girls each made the regional meet last year for pole vault. They repeated their exploit this season as well and will represent Weimar at the event in Kingsville.
Their performance on the track is what was responsible for so many Wildcats qualifying to compete in the regional meet. The lone runner to qualify for an individual competition was Dakota Ford who qualified by taking a top-four placement in the 110m hurdles. The rest of the qualifying runners were part of relay teams that put together a strong team performance that helped them claim their spots at the next level.
The boys reached Regionals in the 4X200m relay race as JaBraelin Thomas, Brady Henke, Huxton Kloesel and Jayden Langenburg combined their efforts to finish with a top placement. The Ladycats had a few relay teams that found a high level of success as well. They also advanced to Regionals in the 4X200m race as Olivia Cabrera, Delaney Turlington, Izzy Reeves and Kim Hinze contributed to the qualifying effort. Reeves returned to race again in the 4X400m race along with DeDreanna Granger, Alazay Moreno and Brooke Ohnheiser.
