WEIMAR – The Weimar Lions Club welcomed representatives from the Weimar High School FFA at their meeting on Tuesday, April 4.
Teacher Liz Treptow and students Hanna Hillje and Erica Billeck. Treptow provided the Lions with an update on a few of the FFA activities including the Weimar Food Bank, a program organized and ran by FFA students that serves approximately 30 families by supplementing household needs on the third Sunday of each month. She also provided an update on FAST Relays, an annual Special Needs athletic competition, which had 250 participants and family members in attendance last week for the event. Each student competes in up to three track and field events and all are awarded gold medals. The FFA holds a Toy Drive each December for Christmas presents, in addition to supporting the Lions Club Family Christmas Party and Chili and Stew dinner. While at the meeting, the FFA organization collected funds from the Lions for the Food Bank, FAST Relay sponsorship, as well as a cash donation from the members present.
