ALLEYTON – On Sunday, April 2, eleven crew members from Cavender Ford came out to a construction day hosted by the Colorado County Habitat for Humanity to help build a home for the Randolph family at 318 Canal St.

The crew helped put up the joists and wrapped the house along with construction manager Scott Mattingly and board members Gary Chandler and Rob Katz.

When asked what it was like to lend their services for the day, especially on Palm Sunday, Cavender Ford General Manager Daniel Fraleigh said, “I grew up with very little and if we can help prevent that for someone else… let’s do it!”

James Cruz from the sales department added, “If I was in the same position, I would want help and I would want my family to have shelter and a stable household.”

Mario Montano, also from the sales department, brought his family of five. His wife Rachelle Montano said, “To be part of a team that can build a home for a family brings joy to us.”

Habitat for Humanity said this is the first time Cavender Ford has partnered with them for this initiative.

Habitat for Humanity builds homes to help low-income families become homebuyers. The organization said donations and volunteers are always needed. Their goal is to finish the home on Canal Street by June or July. The next project day is set for Friday, April 14 with dates following throughout the month.

Construction days are Fridays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon. Groups or individuals interested in volunteering to help build the home on Canal Street can sign up at habitatcoloradocounty.
