After beating Industrial by a big margin last Tuesday, the Cards were forced to wait until Monday, April 10 to compete in the postponed game against Tidehaven. Vs Industrial, W, 11-4

What seemed like was going to be a high-scoring affair for both teams eventually became a one-sided affair led by some hot hitting by the Cardinal bats. They nearly reached double-digit hits in the game with nine, and they scored multiple runs in four innings including three runs in each of the third and seventh innings. The Cobras struggled to get Cardinal batters out as they displayed steady plate discipline. Trevor Berger took advantage by drawing a team-high four walks with several other teammates also drawing multiple free bases. Berger, Nathan Beane and Lane Kulhanek all chipped into the scoring by batting in two runs each.

While the offense soared to help the Cards cruise to victory, their defense is what ultimately secured the advantage. After allowing three runs in the first inning, the Cards held the Cobras to five straight scoreless innings and just a single run in the final, seventh inning.

Vs Tidehaven, W, 5-0

The Cards did not waste any time in attempting to repeat their offensive performance in Monday night’s game against the Tigers. Columbus came out on fire, scoring four runs in the first inning to create a lead and match their game-high for runs in an inning from last week’s game. Despite the offense’s quality start, it slowed down significantly throughout the rest of the game. Columbus scored just one run in the third inning for their final score of the game. With big hits from several spots in the lineup, Ryan Carter took his opportunities and led the team in hits with two. James Janek batted in two runners to lead the team in RBIs.

After a pop from the offense in the first, the Cards relied on their defense and a complete game from starting pitcher Conner Geisler. Columbus held Tidehaven scoreless in every to complete their fifth shut-out victory of the season.

Geisler finished the game with 12 total strikeouts while helping the Cards hold the Tigers to a goose egg on the scoreboard.
