YORKTOWN – The Weimar varsity golf team has been keeping their strong season going after another quality outing in their final meet before they take on the district competition in the first week of April. The Wildcat and Ladycat golfers got a necessary final tune up as they had several top performers individually as well impressive overall scores. Both the girls and the boys had a top-3 finisher after their performances, and the boys finished as the first-place team after several Wildcats finished with sub-85 scores.

The first-place Wildcats claimed their leading spot after one of their best performances of the season. The argument could be made that it was indeed their best performance after the trio of Hudson Ervin, Weston Pavlik and Brady Henke each shot under 85 to help claim the total team score of 336. Ervin led the way with an 80 on the course. He finished in a tie for second place as the team’s lone top-3 finisher. His teammates were not far out from reaching top marks themselves as Pavlik and Henke tied each other with a score of 83. Dillon Stech and Camden Morrison each finished in the 90s with scores of 80 and 93 respectively. Huxton Kloesel rounded out the team’s performance with a 101 on the day.

The girls had some solid performances as well despite bringing a smaller number of golfers to compete compared to some of the other teams present. Of the three Ladycats who competed, Taylor Smith had the most effective day, finishing the course with an 89 as the team’s only sub-90 score and a tie in third place individually. Kelly McAfee finished with a 113, and Karly Calvin shot for a score of 133 to complete the meet for Weimar.

The Wildcats and the Ladycats started their district tournament meet on April 3 in Weimar. Results will be covered online and in next week’s edition of the Citizen.
