SEALY – The varsity boys’ and girls’ golf teams of Columbus had impressive performances last week as they competed in the final meet before the district championship meet. Both teams found plenty of success as they finished in the top four of their respective sides of the tournament.

The boys finished in fourth place after having their best performance as a team this season. They beat their previous team-best score by over 20 strokes as they claimed the top-five position. The team finished with a total score of 327, not far behind the Austin County teams, Sealy and Bellville.

The girls secured a top-three overall placement after taking second place as a team. They were led by Thea Schobel who had one of her best outings of the season and finished in first place individually.

The District Championship Meet took place on Monday and Tuesday in Victoria. Results will be covered in next week’s edition of the Citizen.
