COLORADO COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT

THURSDAY, JAN. 16

At approximately 1:38 p.m., deputy Lopez was dispatched to Rice Medical Center in reference to a mental transport. The subject was transported to the designated facility for treatment. Case cleared.

At approximately 3:13 p.m., deputy Lopez was dispatched to the Texana Clinic in reference to a mental transport. The patient was transported to the designated facility for treatment. Case cleared.

At approximately 4:55 p.m., deputy Blaha was dispatched to the 3600 block of FM 109, Columbus, Tx, in reference to an animal call. After further investigation, information was received and determined the parties were going to handle the matter civilly. Case information only.

FRIDAY, JAN. 17

At approximately 7:30 a.m., deputy Smyers was dispatched to CR 217, Columbus, for an abandoned vehicle. After further investigation, information was received and the vehicle was removed from the roadway and entered into TCIC/ NCIC as stored and abandoned. Case cleared.

At approximately 10:51 a.m., deputy Lopez was dispatched to IH-10 WB near Alleyton in reference to a dog that was hit by a vehicle. It was later found the dog was deceased and that another was left behind. The dogs were placed at Colorado Valley Vet Clinic for safe keeping, where an owner was later located. Case information only.

SATURDAY, JAN. 18

At approximately 12:58 a.m., deputy Machac overhead Columbus PD being dispatched to the 1100 block of Walnut Street, Columbus, in reference to a shooting. While on scene, deputies assisted Columbus PD with their investigation. Case information only.

At approximately 2:58 a.m., deputy Machac while patrolling near the intersection of State Highway 71 South and County Road 101 South, Machac conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation. After further investigation, Gassan Young-Johnson, age 22, of Houston, Tx, and Kristopher Avila, age 19, of Eagle Lake, Tx, were arrested for Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon - Misdemeanor “A”, Possession of Marijuana <2oz - Misdemeanor “B”. Case cleared by adult arrest.

At approximately 6:20 a.m., deputy Smyers was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on Hwy 71, Garwood. After further investigation information was received and a crash report was not deemed necessary with the minor damage. Case cleared.

At approximately 1:10 p.m., deputy Thomas was notified by Pct. 3 Commissioner of Illegal Dumping located in the 1100 block of Reese Lane, Columbus, Tx. After further investigation, information was received and a subject was issued a citation for Illegal Dumping - Misdemeanor “C”. Case cleared.

At approximately 3:54 p.m., deputy Melendez conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 90A near the Colorado River in Altair, Tx. After further investigation, a probable cause search of the vehicle resulted in contraband being located, with the driver being cited and released.

SUNDAY, JAN. 19

At approximately 9:30 a.m., deputy Smyers was dispatched to FM 949 near Reitz Quinn Road, Bernardo, Tx, in reference to an abandoned vehicle. After further investigation, the vehicle was removed from the roadway by a towing company. Case cleared.

MONDAY, JAN. 20

At approximately 8:20 a.m., deputy Leihardt was dispatched to the 1300 block of CR 215, Weimar, in reference to a suspicious vehicle that was abandoned on the property. After further investigation, information was received and two stolen vehicles were recovered. Case cleared.

At approximately 8:45 p.m., deputy Johnson was dispatched to the 4200 block of Alt US-90A, Altair, in reference to burglary in progress call. After further investigation, the property was searched with no suspect located and a suspicious vehicle towed from the scene. Case is active.

TUESDAY, JAN. 21

At approximately 8:00 a.m., deputy Argo was dispatched to the 1200 block of Old Altair Road outside Eagle Lake in reference to a stolen vehicle. After further investigation, information was received and determined the vehicle was impounded as part of a burglary investigation the night prior. Case is active.

WEDNESDAY, JAN. 22

At approximately 12:06 p.m., deputy Lopez was dispatched to a mental transport at Columbus Community Hospital. The patient was transported to the designated psychiatric facility for treatment. Case cleared.

At approximately 4:18 p.m., deputy Thomas observed an abandoned vehicle located in the 3200 block of FM 109, Columbus, Tx. After further investigation, the vehicle was removed from the roadway and entered into TCIC/NCIC as stored and abandoned. This case is closed.

At approximately 8:23 p.m., deputy Chapa was dispatched to the 6000 block of State Highway 71, Altair, in reference to a motor vehicle accident involving livestock. After further investigation, information was received and an owner for the struck livestock was located. Case cleared.

THURSDAY, JAN. 23

At approximately 12:34 a.m., deputy Machac conducted a warrant service at the 400 block of Guynn Avenue, Eagle Lake, Tx. After further investigation, Martin Sauceda Jr., age 33, of Eagle Lake, Tx, was arrested for a local Misdemeanor warrant. Case cleared by adult arrest.

At approximately 12:26 p.m., deputy Thomas was contacted by dispatch in reference to a domestic disturbance located in the 5500 block of E. Second Street, Sheridan, Tx. After further investigation, Samuel Shaver, age 45, of Sheridan, Tx, was arrested for Assault Against an Elderly or Disabled Person - Misdemeanor “A”. Case cleared by adult arrest.

At approximately 5:41 p.m., deputy Melendez was dispatched to the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office in reference to a wanted subject. After further investigation, Dylan Anderson, age 29, of Columbus, Tx, was taken into custody for a local Misdemeanor warrant. Case cleared by adult arrest.

FRIDAY, JAN. 24

At approximately 11:13 a.m., deputy Cantu was dispatched to a natural gas pipeline site located on Beal Road, Eagle Lake, Tx, regarding tampering with pipeline equipment. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken. Case is active.

SUNDAY, JAN. 26

At approximately 3:01 a.m., deputy Blaha was dispatched to the 1000 block of Old Alleyton Road to assist Deputy Frey with a traffic stop. After further investigation, Josue Garcia, age 31, of Houston, Tx, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated - Misdemeanor “B”. Case cleared by adult arrest.

MONDAY, JAN. 27

At approximately 5:40 a.m., deputy Lopez was dispatched to the 1700 block of CR 16, Garwood, Tx, in reference to a subject experiencing a mental health crisis. After further investigation, the subject was screened by Texana and later transported to a psychiatric facility for treatment. Case cleared.

At approximately 9:30 a.m., deputy Smyers was dispatched to a public service in regards to criminal mischief that occurred in the 1700 block of CR 250, Weimar, Tx. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken for information purposes. Case information only.

At approximately 5:41 p.m., deputy Byars was dispatched to the 4800 block of IH-10 Frontage Road, Alleyton, in reference to unwanted subjects. After further investigation, information was received and two individuals were issued by a Criminal Trespass Warning. Case cleared.

TUESDAY, JAN. 28

At approximately 8:16 a.m., deputy Thomas was dispatched to the 3400 block of FM 1693, Garwood, in reference to a theft in progress. After further investigation, it was determined the victim did not wish to pursue criminal charges, and two subjects were issued criminal trespass warnings. Case is cleared.

WEDNESDAY, JAN. 29

At approximately 1:11 p.m., deputy Smith was dispatched to a public service in reference to harassment occurring in the 5300 block of W 2nd Street, Sheridan, Tx. After further investigation, information was received and the matter was handled with no criminal charges. Case is cleared.

At approximately 3:56 p.m., deputy Leihardt was dispatched to a public service in reference to possible real estate fraud for a property located near the 1300 block of County Road 221, Weimar, Tx. After further investigation, information was received and a report taken. Case information only.

THURSDAY, JAN. 30 

At approximately 12:10 a.m., deputy Frey was dispatched to the area of IH-10 S Feeder Road and FM 2761 in reference to a single vehicle motor vehicle accident. After further investigation, Gabriella Givilancz, age 33, of Weslaco, Tx, was arrested for Public Intoxication - Class “C” Misdemeanor. Case cleared by adult arrest.

At approximately 9:30 a.m., deputy Mican was dispatched to the Sheriff’s Office lobby to meet with a possible Fraud victim. He met with the victim who stated a large amount of money is missing from his bank accounts. Information was received from the victim and other family members and determined no money was missing. Case is cleared.

At approximately 2:00 p.m., deputy Smith was dispatched to the 4000 block of US Highway 90 in Alleyton, Tx, regarding a welfare concern. After further investigation, it was determined two missing individuals from Kyle, Tx, were transported to the Columbus Community Hospital to be medically cleared and released to a responsible party. Case cleared.

At approximately 9:39 p.m., deputy Frey was dispatched to the area of CR 106 and 6th Street in Rock Island in reference to a reckless driver. After further investigation, information was received on damaged property and a driver was identified. Case is active.

FRIDAY, JAN. 31

At approximately 2:18 p.m., deputy Smyers was dispatched to the 1100 block of Flower Hill Road, Alleyton, in reference to a stolen vehicle. After further investigation, Darrell Ford, age 59, of Beaumont, Tx, was arrested for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle - State Jail Felony. Case cleared by adult arrest.

At approximately 3:25 p.m., deputy Thomas was dispatched to a public service for false reports being made in the 1000 block of Leona Lane, Columbus, Tx. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken. Case is active.

At approximately 12:15 p.m., deputy Thomas was dispatched to IH-10 Eastbound at FM 949, Bernardo, in reference to a motor vehicle accident. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken. Case is information only.
