Eight Lady Cards selected to the All-District team

The Columbus Lady Cardinals soccer team had eight players selected to the All-District team for the 2025 season.

They also 12 players selected to the Academic All-District team to showcase their abilities both on and off the field.

Starting with the first All-District team Courtney Hinson was the lone Lady Card selected for the first team. Hinson is a senior on the team and contributed to all areas of the game.

On top of that she was a leader for the younger ladies on the team and helped keep the team steady through a rocky season.

The second All-District team saw only one Lady Card get selected and that was sophomore Sylvia Navarro. She is one of the many underclassmen on this team but still found a way to stand out.

Navarro is a fierce competitor that hunts the ball down, no doubt she will be a major asset if she returns to the team next season.

Four upperclassmen, two seniors and two juniors, were selected to the All-District team along with two freshmen. The two seniors were Maria Garcia and Shacherin Ruiz-Lara, the juniors were Kate Farris and Julissa Martinez, and the freshmen were Brisa Morales and Bertha Molina- Marquez.

Garcia and Ruiz-Lara were leaders on the team along with Hinson and showed what it means to wear the Lady Cardinal uniform with pride. Faris and Martinez showed that they are ready to take on that leadership role as they move into their senior year and will also be looking to become key contributors for the team next season.

The freshman came in and just gave the team a nice jolt of life. They were energetic and always had a smile on their faces. They helped keep things light in the locker room and like Navarro they will also be valuable assets if they return next season.

Martinez, Farris, Hinson, Garcia, Morales and Navarro along with freshman Yarel Sanchez, senior Jennifer Rosales, junior Macey Wilke, senior Yaritza Torres, freshman Calleigh Barrett and freshman Mia Arias were all selected to the Academic All-District team.

These young ladies found a way to manage their academic and athletic schedule so well that they maintained a 3.5 GPA while being a key part of the soccer team.
