SAS SAINTLY NEWS

St. Anthony 8th graders attended the Chrism Mass at Our Lady of Victory in Victoria. At the annual Chrism Mass, oils are blessed for use by churches in the Diocese of Victoria.

As this is Holy Week, SAS students and faculty will hold a foot washing service on Maundy Thursday, prior to an early release for the Easter weekend holiday. The foot washing service demonstrates one way Jesus showed compassion for people that many thought were unworthy of love and kindness. Students have been discussing the many ways He expressed compassion for others during this Lenten season.

The 7th grade Chicken Fried Steak fundraiser was very successful, thanks to all that purchased tickets and worked the event! Over 385 plates were sold for the event. St. Anthony’s School is always so grateful for those that support our school and its students.

Last Friday, SAS Dad and Watch D.O.G.S. volunteer Zachary Venghaus spent the day in SAS classrooms, the gym, the car line and the cafeteria. Students enjoyed interacting with Mr. Venghaus throughout the day, feeling an extra sense of security having him on campus.

Soccer update: the Saints soccer teams claimed victory when they played Immanuel Lutheran in Giddings last Thursday. The A team won 3-0, and the B team won 4-3. The Saints have an upcoming match vs. St. Rose at the Columbus field on Wednesday, April 23 at 6 p.m.

“’If I, therefore, the master and teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash one another’s feet. I have given you a model to follow, so that as I have done for you, you should also do.’” (John 13:14-15)

SAS 8th graders have entered the home stretch and are winding down the school year with several field trips.

Watch D.O.G.S. volunteer Zach Venghaus has some play time with Kindergarteners Bame Ross and Conrad Zapf.
