St. Anthony 7th graders are hosting a Drive-thru Chicken Fried Steak Meal next Tuesday, April 15. Tickets are $15 each and can be purchased from any SAS 7th grade student or in the school office until Friday, April 11. Funds raised will support these students when they go on their 8th grade class trip next spring.
On April 9, the SAS 7th graders headed to the State Capital in Austin for a tour, followed by a visit to the Texas State Cemetery. The Texas State Cemetery is the final resting place of many VIPs across Texas history, such as artists, statesmen, scientists and soldiers.
Last Friday, April 4, Ms. Donna Pustejovsky and Ms. Susan Townzen (local members of The Daughters of the Republic of Texas) visited Mrs. Hajovsky’s 4th grade class for a Texas history presentation through a “trunk show” of antique items.
This coming Saturday, April 12, St. Anthony School will have 14 students heading to the State PSIA Competition in San Marcos. The following Saints placed either 1st or 2nd at District to earn a trip to the State meet: John Fitzgerald (Poetry Interpretation), Colson Glueck (Mathematics, Poetry Interpretation), Greyson Glueck (Poetry Interpretation), Kaden Glueck (Number Sense), Kyle Glueck (Mathematics, Number Sense), Louise Glueck (Ready Writing), Natalie Glueck (Poetry Interpretation), Hayes Kridel (Number Sense), Isabella Lowe (Ready Writing), Kimber Nelson (Listening Skills), Joshua Newman (Mathematics), Parker Pilat (Impromptu Speaking), Kendal Winkenwerder (Ready Writing), and Abigail Wolters (Modern Oratory, Poetry Interpretation). Tomorrow, the Saints soccer teams will head to Immanuel Lutheran in Giddings for matches starting at 4:00 p.m. (B team) and 5:00 p.m. (A team). Next Tuesday, April 15, Immanuel teams will come to Columbus for matches starting at 6:00 p.m.
Summer camps are coming to SAS. Football, volleyball, basketball and cooking camps are set for June 16-18. Boys and girls in grades 5K through 8th are encouraged to sign up early as space is limited. Online registration and information can be found at bit.ly/2025summercamps.
