Wildcats scoring at will

The Weimar Wildcats have scored 37 runs over their last two games, picking up two huge wins in the process.

They defeated Bloomington and Louise by a combined score of 37-2, so while it is great the offense is humming the defense is doing its job as well and it is resulting in wins.

@ Bloomington, W, 16-1 The Wildcats opened the game by scoring six runs in the top of the first inning, then followed that up with five runs in the second. In the third inning the Wildcats tacked on four more runs and then finally scored once more in the fourth as the cherry on top.

Cullen Schimcek and Trey Billeck were on the bump for the Wildcats and they both had great games. Schimcek pitched 2.2 innings and gave up one run on one hit while walking six batters and striking out five of them.

As for Billeck, he pitched only one inning and gave up zero runs on one hit while striking out two batters.

Offensively, Billeck made an impact as well as he along with Drew Montgomery and Ty Rerich all hit doubles on their way to a win. Montgomery also hit the game’s only triple and led all players with five RBIs.

It was a big win, and the Wildcats wanted to carry that momentum into their next game against Louise.

Vs. Louise, W, 21-1 In this game the Wildcats actually gave up the first run of the game in the top of the first inning, but it was the only run they surrendered the whole game. In the bottom of the first inning the Wildcats scored four runs in response and the offensive onslaught was on.

The defense held Louise scoreless in the second inning and the Wildcats extended their lead by three runs in the bottom of the second. Louise did not score in the third and the Wildcats scored 14 runs in the bottom of the third to end the game.

Montgomery was on the bump for the Wildcats had he pitched four innings gave up one run on two hits while walking two batters and striking out four of them.

Offensively Montgomery along with Camden Morrison and Nicholas Vasquez all hit doubles. Ty Chmelik joined in on the fun hitting the only two triples in the game and the trio of Chmelik, Morrison, Vasquez and Brandon Luckey all recorded three RBIs, Montgomery led the game though with four RBIs.

The Wildcats now set their sights on the heart of the district schedule which is set to start next week.
