The Columbus Lady Cardinals made the trip down to Rice Consolidated High School to compete in the District Meet last Wednesday and Thursday.
The Lady Cards put together a very strong outing so let’s jump right on into the results and see who qualified for the Area Meet.
Starting with the 100m dash event Katlyn Torres qualified for the Area Meet by coming in 3rd place with a time of 12.68 seconds. In 8th place not too far behind her was Faith Cleveland who finished with a time of 13.36 seconds.
In the 400m Kaylea Mc-Carthy came in 5th place with a time of one minute and four seconds. In the 800m race Chloe Ross came in 8th place with a time of two minutes and 37 seconds and Kaylea Foster came in 15th place with a time of two minutes and 52 seconds.
Foster was back on the track for the 1600m, she came in 7th place with a time of six minutes and 31 seconds. In the 3200m Ross came in second place with a time of 13 minutes and six seconds, only 14 seconds behind 1st place.
In the 4x100m relay the team of Shacherin Ruiz, Lexi Kulhanek, Taylor Morrow and Katlyn Torres competed for the Lady Cards. They came in 4th place with a time of 51.13 In the field events, Kulhanek led the Lady Cards in the long jump event coming in 4th place jumping 16 feet “0.75”. McCarthy also competed in the long jump event and jumped 13 feet “7” to come in 12th place.
McCarthy was back for the triple jump event, and she came in 8th place with a jump of 31 feet “4.5”.
As for the throwing events, Sloan Youens competed in both the Discus and the shot-put event. She threw 90 feet “4” in the discus and 27 feet “7.75” in the shot-put to come in 4th and 14th in those events.
Andreanna Shropshire came in 3rd in the shotput for the Lady Cards, she recorded a throw of 32 feet “9.5”.
The Lady Cards now look ahead to next week when they go back to Rice Consolidated High School to compete in the Area Meet.
