The Rice Lady Raiders dropped back-to-back games, both games ending with the same final score.
The Lady Raiders lost to both Yoakum and Tidehaven by a score of 15-0 to give them not only backto- back losses but back-toback district losses.
Vs. Yoakum, L, 15-0 All things considered in this game the Lady Raiders actually played pretty solidly. Crazy to say something like that but again just look at last year. By the end of the first inning last season the score would have been 15-0 and it took Yoakum five innings to do that against this year’s team, so again, improvement.
By the end of the third inning against Yoakum the score was only 6-0, not the best score to look at but avid softball fans know that a six-run lead is never safe in this sport. The Lady raiders are still a young team figuring things out though, and the offense tends to struggle, so it resulted in a shutout.
At this stage in the season with this team it’s all about looking a little bit deeper because yes, they were dominated in a 15-0 loss, but this team is still making the right steps developmentally.
@ Tidehaven, L, 15-0 Now this game only needed three innings before the Mercy Rule was put into play. The Lady Raiders still put together a solid game though.
Tidehaven is one of the top teams in the district, so it was an uphill fight to begin win for the Lady Raiders. They gave up four in the first, six in the second and five in the third which ultimately sealed their fate in this game.
There are very few if any positives to pull out of a 15-0 loss and most of the time it’s best to just burn that game tape and move on. The Lady Raiders are doing all the right thing s and again they are trending in the right direction, just need a little more time to put it all together.
The Lady Raiders were back in action on Tuesday, April 8, when they traveled to take on the Columbus Lady Cardinals.
