The Weimar Ladycats shut out their district rivals, the Schulenburg Lady Horns, on Tuesday night on their home field.
The Ladycats needed only three innings to be declared the winner in this contest and ended the game with a score of 15-0.
The game started out a little slow offensively for the Ladycats as they scored only two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Their defense played well and held Schulenburg scoreless until the second inning when the Ladycats offense unloaded.
They scored 10 runs in the second inning to bring the score to 12-0 going into the third inning. The Ladycats defense once again held Schulenburg scoreless in the top of the third.
When the Ladycats went back on offense they scored three more runs, and the game was called because of the Mercy Rule.
Defensively for the Ladycats Taylor Smith was back in the circle, and she makes the job for the defense behind her a little bit easier because of her talent. She pitched all three innings and gave up zero runs on zero hits while walking two batters and striking out eight of them.
She faced 11 batters and threw 49 pitches, 32 of which were called strikes which is a strike rate of 65%. Offensively there were a trio of Ladycats who hit double on their way to a victory. Tate Griffin, Sam Rangel and Zariah Sims all recorded doubles in the 15-0 victory over Schulenburg.
Griffin ended up double dipping and hitting a second double in the contest and she helped beef up the Ladycats RBI numbers. The Ladycats finished with seven total RBIs Tuesday night, two of which came from Griffin.
The other five came from Rangel, Sims, Clarie Pavlu, Alazay Moreno and Faith Cantwell.
The Ladycats currently have a 13-9 record and will look to load up on district wins as they get into the heart of their district schedule.
