Eagle Lake Senior Citizens’ Dance moves to East Bernard The Eagle Lake Senior Citizens’ Dance is making a comeback in East Bernard this Friday, April 4, after shutting down in Eagle Lake last year in December.
The dance will take place at the American Legion Hall in East Bernard from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. after the Supak family teamed up with the Legion Hall to host a dance on the first Friday of every other month.
A cash bar will be available to purchase sodas and beers. Entrance will cost $10 per person, with the Blue Denim band to provide music, everyone is welcome.
The dance will have the same format as it did for 33 years including a potluck and door prizes.
Hops for Hounds fundraiser set for April 12
Deuce’s Dream Hunting Dog Sanctuary is partnering up with Hound Song Brewing Company to host their “Hops for Hounds” fundraiser on Saturday, April 12.
The fundraiser will take place from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Hound Song, which will be filled with great food, fun and drink.
The event will feature a raffle, new merchandise and a canned food drive for seniors at Deuce’s Dream Hunting Dog Sanctuary.
Next Winedale zoom talk set for April 17, performances set for April 25-26 The next Winedale Historic Site zoom talk is set to take place on Thursday, April 17, and the Shakespeare at Winedale’s spring class is set to perform “A Comedy of Errors” on April 25 and April 26.
The Winedale zoom talk, with the theme “Brass Bands & Bullseyes: German-Texans and their Schuetzenverein Traditions” will take place at noon, as the staff of Kreische Brewery & Monument Hill State Historic Sites share the history of marksmanship clubs. These clubs became community centers for German immigrants and their neighbors to compete in target shooting, celebrate holidays, dance to German music and gather as a community.
Staff will highlight the history of the Bluff Schuetzenverein which once made its home on the grounds of present-day Monument Hill and inspired the sites’ annual Bluff SchuetzenFest in May. Email tricia.blakistone@ austin. utexas. edu for a link to this zoom talk.
