Raiders results from Swamp Relays

The Rice Raiders hosted the Swamp Relays on their home field in Altair, TX where 20 schools competed in the track events only.

The weather unfortunately canceled all of the field events but all the student athletes in attendance still had a blast.

Starting thing of in the 100m dash the Raiders had two runners place in the top 20 and one runner place in the top 30. Leading the way int he 100m dash for the Raiders was Keundric Pratt with a time of 11.93 seconds to take 17th place.

Close behind him in 20th place was his teammate Robert Bennett who posted a time of 12.15 seconds. Then came D’Neriyan Fuller who had a time of 12.43 to come in 27th place.

Moving on to the 200m dash, Braydon James was the first Raider across the finish line with a time of 24.26 seconds. James came in 15th place and close behind, again, was Bennett.

Bennett finished with a time of 14.85 seconds to come in 23rd place in the 200m dash. These athletes took a much-deserved rest after their races and while they rested two Raiders finished in the top 10 of the 400m dash.

With a time of 52.17 seconds Jon Woods was the first Raider to finish the 400m dash and came in 2nd place. Eli Muro also ran in the 400m dash, he finished the race in 57.64 seconds to come in 8th place.

The Raiders had two runners finish in the top 10 of the 400m dash and they carried that momentum over to the 800m race. In the 800m race the Raiders had all three of their runners finish in the top five.

Jael Valles-Serrano came in 2nd place with a time of two minutes and one second, which was two seconds shy of 1st place. Next was Jake Morales coming in 4th place with a time of two minutes and seven seconds with his teammate hot on his heels.

Lance Dingler was only two seconds behind Morales with a time of two minutes and nine seconds to come in 5th place for the Raiders.

In the 1600m run Valles-Serrano and Morales were back in action and came in 5th and 6th place respectively. Valles-Serrano finished with a time of four minutes and 48 seconds and Morales finished with a time of four minutes and 49 seconds.

In the 110m and the 300m hurdles the Raiders once again had two runners in the top 10. Jace Upson finished in 5th place with a 16.38 second time and Turner came in 9th place with a 17.69 second run.

In the 300m hurdles though, the two runners swapped positions in the rankings. Turner came in 5th place while Upson came in 8th place, and they had times of 43.74 seconds and 44.60 seconds.

In the relay races the Raiders placed 6th in the 4x100m with a team of James, Bennett, Pratt and Isaiah Castillo posting a time of 44.45 seconds. Then in the 4x200m relay the team of James, Upson, Pratt and Castillo came in 7th with a time of one minute and 33 seconds.

Then finally in the 4x400m relay the team of Woods, Valles-Serrano, Castillo and AJ Jenkins came in 2nd place with a time of three minutes and 32 seconds, seven seconds behind 1st place Edna.

The Raider now looks ahead to the district meet which is scheduled for next Wednesday, April 2, and Thursday, April 3, at Rice Consolidated High School.
