The Columbus Lady Cardinals competed in the rain at the Swamp Relays at Rice Consolidated High School on Thursday, March 27.
The Lady Cards put together an overall strong performance but know that they will have to step their game up with the District Meet coming soon.
The Lady Cards started the meet in the 100m dash because all field events were canceled because of the rain. Katlyn Torres was the first Lady Card to finish the race, she came in 6th place with a time of 13.48 seconds.
Right behind her in 7th place was her teammate Lexi Kulhanek and she was only .03 seconds behind Torres. Kulhanek finished with a time of 13.51 seconds and then Faith Cleveland finished in 23rd place with a time of 14.09 seconds.
In the 200m, Kayla Mc-Carthy was the first Lady Card to cross the finish line with a time of 28.52 seconds to come in 14th place. Torres came in 15th place with a time of 28.54 seconds, then Ava Heffley came in 27th place with a time of 30.08 seconds.
In the 400m race Chloe Ross was on the track along with Sloan Youens and Lanie Orsak and they all finished the race in 21st , 22nd and 23rd place respectively. Ross came in 21st place with a time of one minute and nine seconds, Youens came in 22nd place with a time of one minute and 10 seconds and Orsak came in 23rd with a time of one minute and 10 seconds also but finished .06 seconds behind Youens.
In the 4x100m relay the team of Shacherin Ruiz, Taylor Morrow, Faith Cleveland and Katlyn Torres came in 6th place with a time of 52.64 seconds. In the 4x200m relay the team was the same as the 4x100m and they came in 8th place with a time of one minute and 52 seconds.
In the 4x400m Torres and Cleveland were replaced by Kaylea McCarthy and Lexi Kulhanek. They finished in 8th place again, with a time of four minutes and 28 seconds.
The Lady Cards now look ahead to the District Meet which is scheduled for Wednesday, April 2, and Thursday, April 3, at Rice Consolidated High School.
