The Columbus Cardinals picked up two hug district wins over Palacios and Industrial this past week.

In both games it took a couple of innings for the offense to find their footing but once they did, they never looked back.

Vs. Palacios, W, 7-0

Starting things off is the Cards 7-0 win over Palacios and the game was actually scoreless in the first three innings. The Cards finally broke through in the fourth inning where they scored four runs.

They came back in the fifth and sixth inning and scored two runs and one run respectively to arrive at the final score. Britton Wolters and Ayden Carter each recorded two RBIs but the defense deserves a ton of credit for this win.

The Cards went back to Wyatt Tipton on the bump, and he did not disappoint. He pitched all seven innings for the Cards, he gave up zero runs on two hits, while walking one batter and striking out 10 of them.

He threw a total of 97 pitches and 65 of them were called strikes, which is a 67% strike rate.

The Cards know that every district game is important, and they were pleased with the win but wanted to carry it over into their next game against Industrial.

@ Industrial, W, 5-3

Looking at the score, this game was a little bit closer than their game against Palacios, but it followed a similar theme as the game against Palacios. The Cards again did not open the scoring until a little later in the game.

The Cards were finally able to break through in the third inning where they scored four runs and then followed that up with one more run in the fourth. Brody Tribe and Cade Neumann each recorded one RBI in the win, Tribe also hit the only double for the Cards.

Industrial scored one run in the fourth and then two in the sixth to cut the lead down to 5-3 but it was too little too late and the Cards came away with the win.

Tribe was on the bump for the Cards along with Kannon Rooks, they combined to pitch seven innings and gave up three runs on seven hits while striking out seven batters.

The Cards are scheduled to take on Edna on Tuesday, April 1, on their home field looking to pick up another district win.

Brody Tribe struck out four batters in the win over Industrial.
