Sheriff’s Report
WEDNESDAY, JAN. 1
At approximately 12:34 a.m., deputy Byars was dispatched to the 600 block of W Post Office, Eagle Lake, in reference to an assault that took place in Garwood, Tx. After further investigation, a follow up was completed and determined the victim did not wish to pursue charges on the suspect. Case cleared.
At approximately 3:10 a.m., deputy Blaha was travelling East on Highway 90 East of Beason’s Park when he observed a vehicle wrecked into the bridge. After further investigation, Matthew Arcos, age 25, of Columbus, Tx, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated - Misdemeanor “B”. Case cleared by adult arrest.
At approximately 7:29 a.m., deputy Cantu located an abandoned vehicle parked on the side of Highway 90 near the Interstate 10 698 mile marker overpass. After further investigation, the vehicle was removed from the roadway and entered into TCIC/NCIC as stored and abandoned. Case cleared.
At approximately 11:03 a.m., deputy Cantu was dispatched to the 5200 block of Main Street, Sheridan, in reference to a bullet striking a parked travel trailer. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken. Case is inactive.
At approximately 10:35 p.m., deputy Blaha was dispatched to IH-10 near Columbus in reference to a reckless driver. After further investigation, Ramon Velasquez, age 30, of Houston, Tx, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated - Misdemeanor “B”. Case cleared by adult arrest.
THURSDAY, JAN. 2
At approximately 9:25 p.m., deputy Frey was dispatched to the 1300 block of CR 240, Weimar, in reference to a fire call. After further investigation, information was received and a UTV was deemed a total loss. Case cleared.
FRIDAY, JAN. 3
At approximately 11:59 p.m., deputy Byars was dispatched to the 1400 block of Walnut Street, Columbus, in reference to an intoxicated person. After further investigation, Sean Mayes, age 29, of Lakeside, California, was arrested for Public Intoxication - Misdemeanor “C”. Case cleared by adult arrest.
SATURDAY, JAN. 4
At approximately 1:24 a.m., deputy Machac arrived at the 200 block of Allen Street in Eagle Lake for a warrant service. After further investigation, Frank Cantu, age 64, of Eagle Lake, Tx, was arrested for two local felony warrants. Case cleared by adult arrest.
At approximately 8:09 p.m., deputy Byars was dispatched to the 1000 block of Calhoun Road, Eagle Lake, in reference to an unwanted subject. Upon making contact with the complainant, enough information was gathered to generate a report.
TUESDAY, JAN. 7
At approximately 2:14 a.m., deputy Blaha was travelling South near the 1800 Block of Hwy 71S when he initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation. After further investigation, Billie Jo Gaitan, age 44, of Columbus, Tx, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated - Class “B” Misdemeanor. Case cleared by adult arrest.
At approximately 9:32 a.m., deputy Leihardt was dispatched to the 1900 block of County Road 151 Columbus, Tx, in reference to sheep being killed by the neighbors dogs. After further investigation, information was received and one subject was issued a citation. Case cleared.
At approximately 2:34 p.m., deputy Leihardt while patrolling 90A Eastbound near CR 255, Sheridan, initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation. After further investigation, Spencer Pollard, age 34, of Sheridan, Tx, was arrested for Driving While License Invalid w/ Prior Conviction - Class “B” Misdemeanor, Fail to Maintain Financial Responsibility - Class “C” Misdemeanor and Expired Registration - Class “C” Misdemeanor. Case cleared by adult arrest.
At approximately 4:18 p.m., deputy Lopez was dispatched to the 1500 block of FM 1291, Fayetteville, in reference to a welfare check. After further investigation, Paul Riley, age 50, of Youngstown, Ohio was arrested for Public Intoxication - Class “C” Misdemeanor. Case cleared by adult arrest.
At approximately 4:22 p.m., deputy Blaha was dispatched to the 1200 block of Alleyton Road, Alleyton, in reference to a disturbance. After further investigation, Brandon Price, age 42, of Columbus, Tx, was arrested for Assault Causing Bodily Injury Family Member Class “A” Misdemeanor. Case cleared by adult arrest.
At approximately 1:33 p.m., deputy Lopez was dispatched to the Colorado County Courthouse in reference to a mental subject experiencing a mental health crisis. The subject was later evaluated by Texana and was released under a safety plan. Case cleared.
WEDNESDAY, JAN. 8 At approximately 8:30 a.m., deputy Mican was dispatched to the Sheriff’s Office Lobby in reference to a credit card fraud which occurred in the 1700 block of Brunes Mill Road, Columbus, Tx. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken. Case is active.
At approximately 8:46 a.m., deputy Smyers received a public service in regards to a theft that occurred on IH-10 near Bernardo, Tx. After further investigation, information was received and the vehicle was entered into TCIC/NCIC as stolen. Case active.
At approximately 12:55 p.m., deputy Gorman was dispatched to IH-10 near Columbus, Tx, in reference to a stolen trailer. After further investigation, the trailer was located and recovered; the suspect was released on scene. Case information only.
At approximately 11:30 p.m., deputy Machac arrived in the 1000 block of FM 1093 to attempt a warrant service. After further investigation, Israel Ramirez, age 50, of Eagle Lake, Tx, was arrested for two local felony warrants for Aggravated Sexual Assault. Case cleared by adult arrest.
SATURDAY, JAN. 11
At approximately 12:20 a.m., deputy Johnson was dispatched to the 1400 block of Fischer Bull Rd in Fayetteville in reference to a motor vehicle accident. After further investigation, the vehicle was found to be abandoned and towed from the roadway. Case is cleared.
SUNDAY, JAN. 12
At approximately 10:57 p.m., deputy Blaha was dispatched to Highway 71 Eastbound near Columbus in reference to a reckless driver. After further investigation, Estanislao Hernandez, age 31, of Columbus, Tx, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated 2nd Class “A” Misdemeanor. Case cleared by adult arrest.
MONDAY, JAN. 13
At approximately 7:30 a.m., deputy Lopez while patrolling on FM 102 near County Road 307, he observed what appeared to be an abandoned vehicle. After further investigation, the vehicle was removed from the roadway and entered into TCIC/NCIC as stored and abandoned. Case cleared.
At approximately 12:08 p.m., deputy Lopez was dispatched to Texana in reference to a mental subject needing a transport to a psychiatric facility. The subject was then transported to the designated facility for treatment. Case cleared.
At approximately 1:06 p.m., deputy Smyers was dispatched to the 1000 block of Dittmar Road, Cat Spring, for a civil dispute. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken. Case information only.
At approximately 4:35 p.m., deputy Melendez was dispatched to the 1000 block of Flower Hill Road in Columbus, in reference to trespassing. After further investigation, information was received and a Criminal Trespass Warning was issued to a subject. Case cleared.
TUESDAY, JAN. 14
At approximately 10:47 a.m., deputy Smyers was dispatched to a public service in reference to estray livestock in the 1100 block of Smith Rau Road. After further investigation, information was received and the owner retrieved their livestock. Case information only.
At approximately 8:49 a.m., deputy Lopez was dispatched to the 1200 block of Alleyton Road, Alleyton, in reference to a mental crisis that a subject was experiencing. The male subject was later transported to a psychiatric facility for treatment. Case cleared.
At approximately 4:13 p.m., deputy Thomas was dispatched to the 2100 block of Ehlinger Road, New Ulm, in reference to Fraud. After further investigation, information was received and determined to be clerical error rather than intentional fraud. Case is cleared.
At approximately 6:46 p.m., deputy Chapa was dispatched to the 600 block of Baxter Street, Garwood, in reference to a disturbance. After further investigation, Katia Sandoval Montejano, age 33, of Garwood, Tx, was arrested for Assault Causing Bodily Injury Family Member - Class “A” Misdemeanor. Case cleared by adult arrest.
WEDNESDAY, JAN. 15 At approximately 3:03 a.m., deputy Machac conducted a warrant service in the 100 block of East South Street in Weimar. After further investigation, Mariah Grounds, age 20, of Weimar, Tx, was arrested for a local felony warrant. Case cleared by adult arrest.
At approximately 1:09 p.m., deputy Cantu was dispatched to the 698 mile marker on IH-10, Columbus, in reference to a roll over accident. An overturned trailer was found and determined to be abandoned and removed from the roadway. Case cleared.
At approximately 1:00 p.m., deputy Smith was dispatched to a business in the 4000 block of IH-10 Frontage Road in Columbus in reference to a stolen vehicle. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken. Case is active.
At approximately 2:39 p.m., deputy Cantu was dispatched to the 1600 block of Shaws Bend Road, Columbus, in reference to criminal trespass. After further investigation, Jesse Simpson, age 44, of Columbus, Tx, was arrested for Criminal Trespass - Class “B” Misdemeanor. Case cleared by adult arrest.
