Season kicks off in Colorado County

Little League season has officially kicked off in Colorado County, with Eagle Lake, Weimar and Columbus all hosting their Little League opening days this past Saturday, March 22.

The sun was shining, and the kids were in their gear ready to kick off another season of Little League across the three leagues in each town.

“Big things happened for Rice Little League and the Eagle Lake community today, marking opening day and our community is grateful to the Rice CISD Administration,” said Eagle Lake Little League in a Facebook post. “School Board Members, Rice Little League Board members, all coaches, players, and parents who have contributed over the years. Thank you to the private donors for making this dream a reality.”

A chicken tender lunch was served in Weimar for families and fastballers to enjoy, while the Columbus Lions fed their athletes a feast and a concession stand took care of the hungry in Eagle Lake.

Weimar High School head baseball coach Thomas Kielman threw out the ceremonial first pitch for Weimar Little League’s opening day.
