The first set of streets, Wallace St. Between Live Oak St. and Bowie St., are set to temporarily close on Tuesday, May 6, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for St. Anthony’s School Career Day.

At 5 p.m. that same day, the closure on Spring St. will extend from the corner of Milam up to Front St, and the closure on Travis St. will be extended to Washington St., with both streets set to remain closed through midnight on Saturday, May 17.

In addition to those road closures, beginning at 7 a.m. the morning of Saturday, May 17, Milam St. be closed from the corner of Walnut St. up to the railroad track. This closure may be potentially removed after 5 p.m. that evening.

The council also held their first public meeting for the $300,000 General Land Office grant given to create a new 20-year comprehensive plan for the city in tandem with Langford Community Management Services.

The comprehensive plan creation kicked off that same day after the grant was approved in a previous meeting, with the plan set to be fully implemented by 2045.

The GLO gives the city 30 months from kickoff to complete the plan, with Langford estimating the work to complete the plan to take between 16 – 18 months.

The next Columbus City Council meeting will take place Monday evening, April 14.
