Lady Cards shutout Cowgirls

The Columbus Lady Cardinals picked up their 12th win of the season after shutting out the Edna Cowgirls Tuesday night.

The Lady Cards won by a final score of 11-0 and their big-time players showed up to play.

The start of the game was a little slow as both teams were in a bit of a feeling out process in the first two innings. The Lady Cards finally opened the scoring in the bottom of the third where they scored four runs.

They followed that up by scoring two more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and then finally five more in the bottom of the fifth. While the Lady Cards offense poured on the points the defense made sure the Cowgirls offense did not.

Mia Post was in the circle for the Lady Cards, and she had a great game. She pitched all five innings for the Lady Cards and gave up only two hits and walked one batter while striking out 10 of them.

Post helped control the pace of play for the game on the defensive side of the ball and allowed the offense to play a little bit looser.

The Lady Cards offense had two players hit home runs, Taylor Morrow and Demi Roecker. Morrow added to her stat line by hitting a double as well along with teammates Allie Cranek and Molly Garcia.

Three Lady Cards also hit triples on their way to a win. Mia Post, Kaylea Foster and Ellie Brown all hit triples and were able to score a ton of runs in the second half of the game because of it.

The Lady Cards are now in their district schedule and now look ahead to their next two scheduled games against Tidehaven and Yoakum.

Aggie Rodriguez settles into the batter’s box waiting for the pitch.
