TSSWCB releases 2024 annual report on Nonpoint Source Pollution Management in Texas

The Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board (TSSWCB), in collaboration with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), has published the 2024 annual report on Nonpoint Source Pollution Management in Texas.

This report showcases the state’s ongoing commitment to improving water quality and highlights significant reductions in nitrogen, phosphorus and sediment levels in Texas waterbodies.

Funded through the Clean Water Act §319(h) Nonpoint Source Grant Program, this initiative is made possible by federal appropriations from Congress through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. To continue receiving these vital funds, Texas must document and report its progress annually in meeting the program’s goals and objectives.

Throughout fiscal year 2024, Texas focused on monitoring water quality, implementing projects to mitigate nonpoint source pollution, and engaging in public education efforts. These actions, carried out in collaboration with local, regional, state, and federal partners, are essential to safeguarding Texas’ water resources.

By fostering partnerships and coordinating strategies at the watershed level, Texas is strengthening its ability to protect and restore water quality across the state. The 2024 report highlights success stories from various waterbodies, demonstrating the collective impact of these efforts.
