The Weimar Ladycats lost back-to-back games this past week to East Bernard and Ganado.

The Ladycats were coming off back-to-back wins over St. Pius and Southwest but struggled to find an offensive rhythm.

Vs. East Bernard, L, 7-4

For the first two innings of this game neither team was able to open the scoring. East Bernard opened the scoring in the third inning, they scored two runs to the Ladycats one run and came back in the fourth to pour on the points.

East Bernard scored five runs in the top of the fourth inning to extend their lead to 7-1 going into the fifth. The Ladycats defense locked down the field for the rest of the game to give their offense the best chance possible to get back into the game.

The offense knew their role and scored one run in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings to cut into the lead and leave the game with a final score of 7-4.

Tate Griffin, Zariah Sims and Ty’Rianna Rhodes each recorded an RBI in the loss. Taylor Smith was in the circle for the Ladycats, and she pitched all seven innings gave up seven runs on nine hits while walking and striking out six batters.

Vs. Ganado, L, 4-1

The offensive struggles followed the Ladycats into their second game against Ganado. The Ladycats offense struggled so much that they did not score a run until the bottom of the seventh inning.

The game was actually scoreless until the third inning when Ganado broke through with two runs. They added one run each in the sixth and seventh inning to put the game out of reach of the Ladycats grasps.

The offensive struggles are not really a cause for concern with the Ladycats. They have ton of upperclassmen leaders to help get them back on track, they just must work through this rut.

The Ladycats will look to get back in the win column when they travel to take on Shiner on Tuesday, March 18, with the first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m.

Tate Griffin is tied for first on the Ladycats with three triples hit this season and has a batting average of .444.
