The Columbus Lady Cardinals have outscored their opponents 30-4 over the last three games and have a 2-1 record during that span.

It’s weird to see a team have a +26run differential and somehow end up with one loss but the loss came from a team that is always a thorn in the Lady Cards side.

@ Palacios, W, 14-1

The first of the Lady Cards two win during this three-game stretch came against Palacios. The Lady Cards opened the game with four runs in the top of the first inning to give the fans some exciting action early in the game.

The Lady Cards added one more run in the second inning to make the score 5-0 at the end of two full innings. The Lady Cards then scored two in the fourth, three in the fifth and four runs in the sixth inning.

They were led by Aggie Rodriguez, Taylor Morrow, Mia Post, Abigail Wiggs and Averie Miller who all hit doubles on their way to a victory. Wiggs and Miller actually hit two doubles each and combined for a total of three RBIs.

Allie Cranek and McKenna Eden were in the circle for the Lady Cards against Palacios. They combined for 13 strikeouts while giving up only one run on three hits. Unfortunately, the thorn in the side mentioned earlier was ready to burst the Lady Cards bubble after a big win.

Vs. Hallettsville, L, 3-0

Yea, that’s right, Hallettsville. They opened the scoring in the top of the first inning by scoring one run.

They extended their lead to 2-0 in the top of the third inning and then drove the nail in the coffin in the top of the sixth inning for a 3-0 final. Now this was not the best outing for the Lady Cards, and they know that better than anyone.

Defensively, the Lady Cards played a great game, Hallettsville is a quality ball club so it’s no shock that their offense is stout and will find a way to score. The Lady Cards did a great job of limiting their opportunities, they just could not get their offense going.

Thankfully the offensive struggles lasted only one game, and the Lady Cards returned to form in their game against Rice.

@ Rice, W, 16-0

After not scoring any runs in their lost to Hallettsville the Lady Cards scored 16 runs on their way to defeating their cross-county rivals.

The Lady Cards had a seven-run fourth inning which helped the Lady Cards finish the game in the fourth inning. Hitting wise the Lady Cards were led by Ellie Brown hit two doubles and a home run for the Lady Cards, but she was not the Lady Card to have a great game in the batter’s box.

Abigail Wiggs also hit a home run during their victory over Rice and Ella Berger recorded the only triple in the game. Aggie Rodriguez, Averie Miller, Trinity Hopkins, Peyton Drozd and Molly Garcia all hit doubles as well.

The Lady Cards bounced back offensively and got back in the win column and look ahead to their next game against Edna on Tuesday, March 18, on their home field.

Taylor Morrow hit a double during the Lady Cards win over Palacios.
